Caroline Hadley

Caroline Hadley serves as Programme Leader for Drama, Acting and Performance at the University of the West of England's College of Arts, Technology and Environment, where she has lectured since 2002. Her expertise spans Actor Training for Stage and Screen, Theatre Directing, and Avant-Garde Theatre/Contemporary Performance Practice, with a focus on intermedial collaborations between theatre and film.

Her academic foundation includes actor training at Drama Centre in the 1980s and a degree in Drama and Theatre Arts from the University of Birmingham. She further contributed as a Visiting Lecturer and Director on Birmingham's BA and MA programmes for six years, and served as a Communication Skills Tutor at Birmingham Medical School from 1991-2001.

Research centers on Actor Methodology, Postdramatic Theatre, and Intermediality, driven by creative explorations of psychophysical approaches like Strasberg's techniques and site-specific reinterpretations of classics. Her international conference engagements across Russia, Italy, and Belarus highlight theoretical investigations into historic avant-garde practices and contemporary performance ethics.

Her extensive directing portfolio spans Shakespearean works, contemporary plays, and international festival collaborations, with notable productions at London's Bush Theatre, Edinburgh Festival, and Minsk's Teatralny Koufar Festival where she served on the Grand Jury.
