Dr. Caroline Bishop is an Associate Professor of Classics at Texas Tech University, where she specializes in Greek and Roman intellectual history, Cicero's works, Latin prose, and the classical tradition. She holds a Ph.D. in Classical Studies from the University of Pennsylvania. Her research explores how ancient authors like Cicero engaged with Hellenistic scholarship to shape their literary and intellectual identities.
Dr. Bishop's key publications include her monograph Cicero, Greek Learning, and the Making of a Roman Classic (2019), which examines Cicero's strategic use of Greek scholarship. She is currently working on a monograph about Cicero's reception within antiquity. Her work has been featured in academic journals like Rheinisches Museum für Philologie and Classical Quarterly.
Her awards include multiple TTU Humanities Research Fellowships and Loeb Classical Library Fellowships. She has also been recognized with grants from institutions like the Fondation Hardt and the Margo Tytus Summer Residency.
