Caroline Beatty is Professor of Music and Director of Bands at Texas State University's School of Music, part of the College of Fine Arts & Communication. She conducts the Texas State Wind Symphony, leads the graduate wind band conducting program, teaches conducting and band literature, and oversees the university’s comprehensive band program. Her work is nationally recognized, with performances at prestigious conferences including the College Band Directors National Association and Texas Music Educators Association.
Her research and artistic practice center on wind ensemble performance, the commissioning of new works, and music education. Notably, she led the Texas State Bands Centennial Music Project, commissioning pieces from composers such as Wayne Oquin, Ryan Chase, and Michael Ippolito. She frequently conducts premieres of works by Robert Beaser, Carter Pann, and David Maslanka, contributing significantly to the contemporary wind band repertoire.
