Caroline Beals

Caroline Beals, Ph.D., OTR/L, CHSE, serves as Program Director and Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of New England, based in Proctor Hall 316. She leads the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) program and maintains active clinical expertise.

Her specialized focus encompasses adult physical rehabilitation with particular emphasis on neurological recovery pathways, including poly-trauma, neuro-trauma, and traumatic brain injury rehabilitation. This clinical foundation directly informs her evidence-based teaching methodologies and curriculum development within occupational therapy education.

Dr. Beals mentors MSOT students pursuing the nationally recognized Interprofessional Honors Distinction through the Center to Advance Interprofessional Education and Practice (CAIEP). She actively contributes to professional advocacy through leadership roles in both the Maine Occupational Therapy Association and American Occupational Therapy Association, focusing on advancing practitioner standards and interprofessional collaboration.
