Carolina Wishner, MD, MPH, serves as Associate Professor and Associate Dean for Inclusion & Opportunity at the University of Toledo's Physician Assistant Program. She directs the Didactic Curriculum and advises SAAAPA while contributing to institutional diversity initiatives.
Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science from National Institute of Panama (1982), Doctor of General Medicine from First Institute of Medicine "Nicolay Pirogov" (1990), and Master of Public Health from Bowling Green State University/University of Toledo Consortium (2012).
Dr. Wishner specializes in disaster medicine and public health, leveraging field experience from Chernobyl (1980s), Ground Zero (2001), and roles as Clinic Director for Panama's National Police and physician for the Panamanian Olympic Committee. She actively develops the Interprofessional Immersive Simulation Center and leads the 18-discipline Interdisciplinary Professional Education (IPE) initiative.
Recently retired as Captain from the U.S. Air Force Reserve Public Health Officer program, she maintains clinical engagement through disaster response frameworks. Her work bridges military medicine, public health infrastructure, and interprofessional training methodologies.
