Carolina Castaldi

Prof. Carolina Castaldi is a Professor of Economic Geography at Utrecht University's Faculty of Geosciences, where she holds the Chair in Geography of Innovation. She co-leads the Economic Geography section and specializes in innovation processes, intellectual property rights, and sustainable regional development. Her work bridges economics, management, and geography, with a focus on novel indicators like patent and trademark data.

Research & Teaching: Her research examines innovation's temporal and spatial dynamics, including both technological and non-technological forms. She teaches at Bachelor, Master, and PhD levels and chairs the Geosciences University Teaching Qualification commission.

Professional Roles: Editor of Industrial and Corporate Change, Board member of EPIP (European Policy for Intellectual Property), and member of Utrecht University's Institutions for Open Societies program team. Previously held roles at the University of Groningen, Eindhoven University of Technology, and as a Robert Solow Postdoctoral Fellow.
