Georg von Graevenitz

Dr. Georg von Graevenitz is a Reader in Quantitative Methods and Programme Director for the MSc Business Analytics at Queen Mary University of London's School of Business and Management. He is a member of the Department of Business Analytics and Applied Economics and serves as Research Area Lead for the LISS Doctoral Training Partnership. His academic roles include teaching courses such as BUSM147 (Strategic Analysis) and BUSM160 (Experiments for Business and Analytics).

His research focuses on intellectual property rights, innovation dynamics, and entrepreneurship. He has pioneered empirical studies using trademark and patent data, addressing topics like patent thickets, brand value, and competition policy. His work has advised institutions such as the European Commission, World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and the UK Intellectual Property Office (IPO).

Dr. von Graevenitz has secured grants including an ESRC Knowledge Exchange grant (2015-2016) on the Unitary Patent System and an ESRC Data Analytics grant (2013-2014) on trademark use. He holds an ESRC Postdoctoral Fellowship (2002–2003) and is affiliated with the Centre for Competition Policy (CCP), CREATe, and the Oxford Intellectual Property Research Centre (OIPRC).

His public engagement includes advisory roles such as the T!Raum Grant Program in Germany and former presidency of the European Policy for Intellectual Property (EPIP) association. He actively contributes to policy discussions on innovation ecosystems and regulatory frameworks.
