Carole O. Heyward serves as Senior Clinical Professor and Administrative Liaison to the Legal Clinics at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, Cleveland State University. She directs the Urban Development Law Clinic where students provide legal services to community development organizations improving Cleveland neighborhoods through real estate and economic development initiatives.

Admitted to the Ohio bar in 1993, Professor Heyward specializes in economic development, real estate law, and corporate law with extensive experience in municipal technical assistance, expert testimony, Community Reinvestment Act challenges, and state/federal litigation. Her clinical teaching integrates civil litigation and transactional law through hands-on urban development projects.
As Administrative Liaison to Legal Clinics, she mentors law students in providing direct legal services while supervising clinic operations and student casework.
She leads the Urban Development Law Clinic team that partners with community organizations on neighborhood revitalization projects involving property transactions, housing development, and economic policy.
Professor Heyward serves on the boards of The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland and the Equal Justice Foundation, and volunteers as a magistrate in Cuyahoga County's juvenile diversion program.
