Carole J. Lee is a Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Washington, with additional affiliations as Adjunct Professor at the Information School (iSchool) and Affiliate Faculty at multiple interdisciplinary centers including the Center for an Informed Public, Center for Statistics and the Social Sciences, eScience Institute, Center for Studies in Demography and Ecology, and Society + Technology Program.
Her research focuses on the social structure of science, examining biases in peer review, disparities in grant funding (particularly Black-white and gender gaps), and emerging norms in scientific credit allocation. She engages with both normative and empirical questions in metascience, publishing in venues like Science, Philosophy of Science, and Plos ONE.
