Carole Fleuret is a Full Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa. She holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Education Sciences from Université de Montréal, specializing in French didactics, and a B.A. in orthopedagogy. Her research focuses on second language didactics, multilingualism, orthographic development, and intercultural education, particularly in minority language contexts. She co-leads a reading intervention program for Francophone schools in Ontario following the 'Right to Read' report. Fleuret is affiliated with several research groups, including the LHUMAIN Lab in Montpellier and EducLang at the University of Ottawa.
Her research interests include the socialization of writing, socio-cognitive components of literacy, and the role of children’s literature in multilingual education. Fleuret has supervised numerous graduate students and teaches courses on second language pedagogy, literacy, and research methodology. Awards include the 2022 Excellence in Education Prize from the University of Ottawa. She actively contributes to media and policy discussions on educational issues, such as immigrant integration and language policies.
