Dr. Carol Resteghini is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Allied and Public Health within the School of Health Sport and Bioscience at the University of East London (UEL). She leads the Physiotherapy BSc Hons course, managing student clinical placements and mentoring academic staff and clinical educators in NHS partner trusts. A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, she champions teaching excellence and equitable clinical placements for students.
Graduating as a UEL physiotherapist, she built her career in brain injury rehabilitation and movement control. After 10 years as a neuro clinical specialist in traumatic brain injury, she joined UEL part-time in 2004 before transitioning to full-time. Her research specialty centers on neuroscience and movement control, with a focus on balance and movement across the life course.
She completed a PhD on balance with upper limb robotics and founded the L:MBER research and education group. Her work integrates robotics, traumatic brain injury rehabilitation, and musculoskeletal ultrasonography, particularly through collaborative Postgraduate courses. Her publication record demonstrates consistent focus on stroke rehabilitation outcomes and evidence-based movement science.

As course leader, she mentors academic and clinical staff while designing innovative clinical curricula. She ensures placement fairness and drives development of new programs like Musculoskeletal Ultrasonography courses. Her leadership extends to NHS partnership development and educational strategy across UEL's health sciences.
She established the L:MBER research group as a dedicated hub for interdisciplinary movement science, focusing on lifespan rehabilitation approaches and robotics integration in clinical practice.
