Kathryn Cassidy is the Course Leader for the MSc Physiotherapy (Pre-Registration) program at Sheffield Hallam University, where she also serves as a clinical practitioner in the Physiotherapy Clinic. She holds a role in the College of Health, Wellbeing and Life Sciences, specializing in Musculoskeletal (MSK) and sports rehabilitation. As a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), she has extensive experience in teaching and assessing undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Her professional background includes NHS and private practice (1997–2012), followed by a transition to higher education. She completed a Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (2013) and is currently pursuing an MSc in Advanced Professional Practice. She is also a qualified Level 3 Fitness Instructor for Exercise Referral and Level 2 Gym-Based Exercise Instruction, contributing to SHU's undergraduate fitness programs.
Kathryn integrates clinical practice with academia by offering student placements and teaching across physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nursing, and sports science disciplines. Her research focus aligns with her professional development, including advancing teaching methodologies and clinical rehabilitation practices. She also serves as the Squad Physiotherapist for the RFU England Women's Rugby team, bridging academic and applied expertise.
Key achievements include her HEA Fellowship and her dual role in clinical practice and education. Her teaching spans MSK rehabilitation, injury prevention, and evidence-based practice, with a commitment to interprofessional learning.
