Dr. Carmen Dayrell Gomes Da Costa is a Research Fellow at Lancaster University's Department of Linguistics and English Language. Her research focuses on corpus-assisted discourse analysis, particularly addressing societal issues like climate change, drought, urban violence, and media representation. She is affiliated with the ESRC Centre for Corpus Approaches to Social Science (CASS) and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams on projects such as analyzing UK and Brazilian media discourses on environmental and social topics.
Her work includes studies on climate change communication, drought narratives in historical and contemporary media, and linguistic patterns in translated vs. non-translated texts.
