He holds fellowships from the Royal Society for Arts (FRSA), Global China Academy (FGCA), and the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).
Curry completed his PhD at the University of Limerick (2020) and previously worked at Cambridge University Press as Senior Research Manager, where he linked research to educational material design. He also served as an Assistant Professor at Coventry University before joining MMU. He is a Co-Editor of Routledge’s Applied Corpus Linguistics series and Section Editor for Elsevier’s Encyclopaedia of Language and Linguistics.
His research spans projects funded by UKRI, King Sejong Institute Foundation, and the Institute of Coding, addressing topics such as language testing, EMI, and digital skills. Notable contributions include studies on climate crisis discourse across languages and the representation of spoken language in ELT materials. He organizes international conferences, including the Teaching and Language Corpora Conference (2024) and symposia on corpus perspectives in climate discourses.
Curry’s work emphasizes translational impact, contributing to inclusive language materials, digital pedagogy frameworks, and qualification validation (e.g., DELTA). He advises on global issues like education, health, and economics, analyzing how these are socially constructed through discourse.
