Carlos Subauste

Carlos Subauste, MD, is a Professor in the Departments of Medicine and Pathology at Case Western Reserve University's School of Medicine. His research focuses on cell signaling pathways in host-pathogen interactions (using Toxoplasma gondii as a model) and inflammatory disorders like diabetic retinopathy and inflammatory bowel disease. He leads the Subauste Laboratory, which develops therapies targeting host-derived signaling pathways to combat infections and inflammatory diseases.

Research Interests: Host-pathogen interactions, CD40 signaling in inflammation, autophagy regulation, and translational studies in animal models.
