Dr. Carlos F. Tapia is an Associate Professor of Spanish and Latin American Studies at Saint Peter’s University’s Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures. A Saint Peter’s alumnus (B.A. 1997), he holds advanced degrees from Georgetown University (Ph.D. 2007, M.S. 2002) and George Washington University (M.A. 2009 in International Relations). His research focuses on Spanish language dialectology, Hispanic American literature, and the cultural/political histories of Argentina, Spain, Italy, and Cuba. He previously taught at the U.S. Department of State Foreign Service Institute (2013-2015), training foreign service officers in Spanish language and culture.
