Carlos Conde Solares is a Programme Leader for the BA History programme at Northumbria University. He holds a PhD in Humanities (2009) and an MA (Hons) in Hispanic Studies (2004). He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) since 2008. His research focuses on cultural and theosophical aspects of medieval and early modern Spain, including antisemitic myths, interfaith spiritual interactions, and the origins of the Republic of Letters. Current projects include The Antisemitic Myth of the Jewish Puppetteer, examining the trope of Jewish shadow governance, and collaborations with global institutions.
Publications span peer-reviewed journals, books, and international media contributions to outlets like El Mundo, The Conversation, and Al Jazeera. He chairs the academic think tank Foro de Profesores, with 500+ members across 14 countries. Professional activities include organizing conferences such as the Durham-Northumbria Colloquium on Medieval and Golden Age Studies.
Key research themes include late medieval Spain's religious dynamics, the cultural legacy of the Iberian Peninsula, and the historical roots of contemporary political narratives. His work bridges academic scholarship with public engagement through media commentary and policy discussions.
