Carlos Cerezo Davila is a Visiting Lecturer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and serves as Environmental Design Director at Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF). He leads KPF’s Environmental Performance team (KPFep), which develops computational tools to integrate carbon, energy, thermal, and daylight modeling into design workflows. His research focuses on urban-scale energy analysis, sustainability benchmarks, and climate-resilient infrastructure. At MIT, he teaches environmental design principles to architecture, planning, and real estate students through the Center for Real Estate.
He pioneered the sustainability vision for Hong Kong University of Science and Technology’s Guangzhou campus, aiming for net-zero carbon by 2050 through flood-resistant design and wetland preservation. His academic contributions include developing one of the first citywide Urban Building Energy Models (UBEM) for Boston, published in journals like Energy and Buildings and Building and Environment.
Carlos was honored as a Notable Leader in Sustainability by Crain’s New York Business in 2024. His work spans global cities including Boston, Chicago, Lisbon, and Kuwait City, emphasizing evidence-based design strategies to reduce environmental impacts.
