Dr. Carlos Aceves-Gonzalez is a Senior Lecturer in Ergonomics and Human Factors at the University of Derby's School of Psychology (College of Health, Psychology and Social Care). He holds a PhD from Loughborough University and has prior roles as Associate Professor and director of the Ergonomics Research Centre at the Universidad de Guadalajara, Mexico. His expertise spans healthcare, transportation, and inclusive service design, with a focus on vulnerable populations like older adults and people with disabilities.
Education: BSc Psychology (Universidad de Guadalajara), MSc Higher Education Planning (Universidad de Guadalajara), PhD Ergonomics and Human Factors (Loughborough University).
Research interests center on applying ergonomics to improve healthcare systems (e.g., patient safety, medication error reduction) and transportation accessibility. He co-founded and leads RELAESA, a Latin American network for healthcare ergonomics, and has received the Kingfar Award for Early Career Researchers (2022). Recent work includes medication safety frameworks, pedestrian safety design, and inclusive urban environments.
Teaching focuses on Systems Ergonomics, Physical Ergonomics, and Behavior Change modules. He actively collaborates internationally through conferences and has presented on topics like human-centered design strategies for drug safety and healthcare system quality improvement.
