Carlo Gerardo Pinnetti serves as a Senior Lecturer in Criminology at Linnaeus University's Department of Criminology and Police Work within the Faculty of Social Sciences since 2021. Previously, he taught at Malmö University (Departments of Global and Political Studies and Criminology) and Uppsala University.
He earned his PhD from the Centre for Law and Society at the University of Edinburgh. His teaching portfolio spans Introduction to Criminology, Crime Prevention and Criminal Policy, Dissertation Writing, Sociology of Law, Sociology of Punishment, Criminological Theory, and Life-Course Criminology.
Dr. Pinnetti's research centers on two interconnected domains: the relationship between crime, social science, and politics; and criminal justice education. Current investigations examine public sector institutions' application of crime prevention knowledge regarding trust dynamics, and reflexive methodologies for teaching criminological theory. His prior work includes genocide studies and funded projects on internationalizing criminal justice education curricula.
He has secured research funding for pedagogical innovations in higher education, specifically focusing on criminological theory integration and global perspectives in criminal justice training.
