Carla Smith Stover is a Harris Professor in the Child Study Center and Professor in the Department of Psychology at Yale University School of Medicine. Her work focuses on the impact of violence and trauma on child development, particularly in families affected by intimate partner violence (IPV) and substance misuse. She developed the Fathers for Change intervention to address co-occurring IPV and substance abuse, supported by grants from NIDA and NICHD. Her research emphasizes culturally grounded interventions and telehealth delivery models.
Education: PhD from California School of Professional Psychology (2002), Postdoctoral training at UCSF and Yale Child Study Center. She holds leadership roles in the Yale Early Stress and Adversity Consortium and the National Child Traumatic Stress Network.
