Carla Coelho is a Researcher and Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre for Environmental and Climate Science (CEC) and part of the BECC: Biodiversity and Ecosystem services in a Changing Climate research group at Lund University. She contributes to the LU Profile Area: Nature-based future solutions. Her work focuses on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodologies, environmental impacts of food systems, land use practices, and biodiversity conservation. She holds a PhD in Environmental Sciences from Universität Stuttgart (2021).
- Education: Doctoral Thesis (2021) on 'Perforation Potential in Life Cycle Assessment' from Universität Stuttgart.
Her research integrates environmental management with sustainable development goals, particularly addressing dietary choices, agricultural practices, and innovative LCA approaches. She has developed methods like 'fuzzy thinking' to bridge land use practices and biodiversity conservation. Key areas include protein extraction from fisheries by-products, LCA simplification, and GIS applications in environmental impact analysis.
Recent activities include presenting at the SETAC Europe LCA Symposium (2024) and organizing LU Land frukostseminarium #27 (2024). She collaborates internationally on projects like Mistra BIOPATH (2022–2026), focusing on biodiversity and biotechnology pathways.
