Carla Burns serves as an Assistant Professor of Psychology and CACE Program Manager at Naropa University, where she leads the MA Contemplative Psychotherapy residential retreat programs and contributes to the Center for Contemplative Chaplaincy and Compassion Initiative.

Her work bridges personal and collective liberation, transforming expansive enlightenment concepts into practical freedom applications within contemplative education and mental health contexts. She examines how spatial awareness and elemental frameworks inform clinical counseling and educational settings.
Academic Leadership: As CACE Program Manager, she designs and facilitates contemplative education trainings while leading residential retreats for MA Contemplative Psychotherapy students. Her teaching spans psychology, counseling, and education programs with courses including Maitri Working with Emotions, Awakening Compassion, and Holistic Teaching Traditions. She actively shapes Naropa's Buddhism-informed counseling specializations and Compassion Initiative.
