Carl Strathearn

Dr. Carl Strathearn is a Lecturer at the School of Computing Engineering and the Built Environment, Edinburgh Napier University. He works within the Centre for Algorithms, Visualisation and Evolving Systems, focusing on

• Humanoid Robotics
• Artificial Intelligence
• Natural Language Generation
• Human-Robot Interaction

His research includes the CiViL project (2020-2023) funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (£280,060), which explores common-sense and visual-enhanced natural language generation for computational agents. He also contributed to the DanceMark project (2024), developing an open telemetry framework for latency-sensitive VR experiences.
