معرفی
Dr. Carl-Heinz Friedel is a Visiting Professor at the University of Göttingen, specifically within the Department of Structural Geology and Geothermics under the Faculty of Geoscience and Geography. His career spans over four decades in geological research and professional practice. Friedel studied geology at the Freiberg Mining Academy (1973–1977), followed by roles as a mining geologist in fluorite and barite mines in the Harz Mountains and Thuringian Forest.
Between 1990–1993, he conducted DFG-funded research at TU Berlin’s petrology department, completing his doctorate on the tectonics and metamorphism of the central Harz Mountains in 1995. Subsequent roles included structural studies at GFZ Potsdam (1995–1996), temporary geologist positions in Freiberg and Leipzig, and a 17-year tenure as Senior Geologist and Head of Geology at the Geological Survey of Saxony-Anhalt (2000–2017). His retirement in 2017 did not end his academic engagement; he now focuses on the geology of the Harz Mountains, emphasizing structural development, tectonics, and applied projects like radioactive waste disposal.
Friedel actively supervises bachelor’s and master’s students, co-organizes workshops on Harz geology, and leads field trips. His research integrates fieldwork, core analysis, and interdisciplinary collaboration, as evidenced by his ResearchGate profile and ORCID (0000-0002-3380-5193).
