Dr. Érard's research examines two main areas: 1) the relationship between sports capital and professional careers in physical education and sports since the late 19th century, using biographical and prosopographical approaches to study theorists, inspectors, teachers, and sports movement leaders; and 2) how sports capital influences university orientation paths in STAPS and preparatory classes, particularly for high school students, professional baccalaureate holders, and high-level athletes.
Her extensive publication record reveals consistent themes in sports history, gender studies, and educational sociology. She has made significant contributions to understanding women's roles in sports leadership, historical development of physical education, and the intersection of sports capital with educational pathways. Her work often employs biographical approaches to uncover gender inequalities in sports professions and education.
