Cara Di Edwardo

Cara Di Edwardo is an Adjunct Professor at The Cooper Union’s School of Art, where she has taught hand papermaking since 1991 and calligraphy since 2001. She also serves as Director of Continuing Education and Director of Typography Programs. Her academic roles include co-founding Type@Cooper (2010) and Type@Cooper West (2015), and directing Typographics, an annual international type festival. She studied at Cooper Union (BFA, 1985), Kyoto Seika University, and École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, with additional coursework in biology, chemistry, and traditional goldsmithing.

Her professional affiliations include the Society of Scribes (President, 2008-2010) and the Type Directors Club (Board Member, 2014-2017). She advises the Letterform Archive and contributes to design education initiatives bridging typography with broader creative and scientific disciplines.
