Andrew Byrom

Andrew Byrom is a Lecturer in Design at the School of the Arts, York St John University. Previously, he spent 18 years in the US as a designer, working with clients such as The New York Times Magazine, Sagmeister Inc., and The Architecture + Design Museum. His interdisciplinary work focuses on typography, exhibition design, and sustainable materials, with recognition from AIGA, the Type Directors Club, and election to the Alliance Graphique Internationale (2012). Key projects include the Eames Words exhibition (2012) and the Letter-Box Kites installation (2010). He has taught at institutions like USC and California State University Long Beach, and presented globally at conferences like TEDx UCLA and AGI Conferences.

Research interests span typographic art, public installations, and the intersection of design history with contemporary practice. His publications include Master of the Midcentury: The Architecture of William F. Cody (2021) and Edward A. Killingsworth: An Architect's Life (2013). Awards include TDC Annual selections (2010, 2013) and AIGA honors.
