Caner Caglar is a Researcher at Bezmialem Vakif University's Life Sciences And Biotechnology Institute, Department of Molecular Biology. His research focuses on neurobiology, metabolism, and genetics, particularly examining neuronal mechanisms regulating food-related behaviors and binge eating. He holds a PhD from The Rockefeller University and a BSc from Bilkent University.
Research interests include: Neuroscience (neuronal circuitry), Metabolism (appetite regulation), Genetics (mutation impacts), Binge eating mechanisms, Obesity pathophysiology, and Molecular Biology (genetic tools).
Key collaborations include work with Harvard, Princeton, Yale, and The Rockefeller University. His publications in high-impact journals like Cell, Neuron, and PNAS address topics from glioma genomics to neuronal circuitry in eating disorders. His lab employs cutting-edge techniques to map neuronal connectivity and explore therapeutic avenues for appetite regulation.
Awarded the Rockefeller University Graduate Fellowship, his work bridges basic science and clinical applications in neurodevelopmental disorders and metabolic diseases. Teaching focuses on Neuroscience modules.
