Dr. Candy Ying Lu is a Senior Lecturer in International Management and Employment at Macquarie University's Department of Management. She joined in 2014 and holds editorial roles at journals like Human Resource Management Journal and Stress & Health. Her research focuses on sustainable HRM, AI-HRM, cross-cultural management, and occupational safety in mining. She earned her PhD from Monash University in 2012, winning the Dr Nicholas Beaumont Memorial Award for Best Thesis. Dr. Lu leads the Master of International Business program and the Master of Commerce – International Business specialisation. She has secured multiple awards, including the 2023 Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence in Research Award. Her work addresses AI’s impact on labor, green HR practices, and challenges faced by Chinese MNEs in Australia.
Education: PhD in Management from Monash University (2012). Key research areas include algorithmic management, carbon reduction strategies, and common good HRM. She has supervised 8+ PhD/MRes students and contributed to projects like 'Integrating AI in Decision-Making' (2024) and 'Australian Healthcare System Analysis' (2023). Her service roles include Deputy Director (Asia Pacific) at Macquarie’s Health at Work Research Centre.
Research highlights include studies on platform worker behavior, green compensation design, and trust deficits in cross-border MNE operations. Her scholarship bridges HRM theory with practical applications in sustainability, technology, and global business dynamics.
