Candis Pohl

Candis Pohl is an Adjunct Lecturer in Music Education and Woodwind Instruments at the School of Visual, Media and Performing Arts. Her career spans over 15 years of teaching in New York City public schools, transitioning to her current role as Assistant Principal of Music at Edward R. Murrow High School.

• Education: Bachelor's in Music Education (Wagner College, 2005), Master's in Music Education (Brooklyn College, 2008)

Research interests focus on practical applications in music education, woodwind pedagogy, and arts integration in K-12 settings. Her work emphasizes performance-based learning, preparing students for advanced music education, and fostering collaborative arts programs through partnerships with institutions like Lincoln Center Education Department.

In professional activities, Pohl has hosted the Spring NYSSMA Music Festival, led Citywide Professional Development Workshops with the New York City Director of Music, and served as Center Director of Brooklyn for the Salute to Music Program. She currently supervises the Middle School Arts Boot Camp and sits on the MEANYC Executive Board.
