Candida Alvarez is the F.H. Sellers Professor in Painting and Drawing at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her sabbatical (2019-2020) included studying Piero della Francesca's frescoes in Umbria and residency at Civitella Ranieri Foundation. She created groundbreaking 'Air Paintings' for her 2020 solo exhibition at Monique Meloche Gallery and received the prestigious 2021 Helen Frankenthaler Award for Painting during the pandemic.
