Candice W. Laney is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at Western Carolina University, within the College of Health and Human Sciences. With 20 years of clinical experience, she specializes in nursing leadership and practice areas such as public health, geriatric care, and peri-operative nursing. She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Western Carolina University and the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, alongside certifications as a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE).
Education includes a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), both from Western Carolina University. Her research focuses on Active Learning Techniques, Simulation in Nursing Education, and Social Determinants of Health. She is actively involved in professional organizations including Sigma Theta Tau, National League for Nursing, and Phi Kappa Phi.
Teaching specialties include courses on Community Health, Nursing Informatics, and Pharmacotherapeutics, emphasizing technology integration and active learning strategies. Her work bridges clinical practice with educational innovation to address contemporary healthcare challenges.
