Dr. Brandi W. Fruin serves as an Assistant Professor with over 20 years of clinical nursing experience spanning medical-surgical, emergency department, and post-anesthesia care settings. A first-generation college graduate, she is deeply committed to advancing nursing education and promoting cultural competence, particularly for underserved populations. She actively contributes to the profession through service on her state's board of nursing screening panel and leadership roles in national nursing organizations.
Her educational background includes:
- DNP from Western Kentucky University
- MSN in Education from Aquinas College
- BSN from Middle Tennessee State University
Dr. Fruin's teaching expertise encompasses undergraduate courses including Foundations, Adult Health I/Medical Surgical, Health Assessment, Pathophysiology-Pharmacology, Global Perspectives, and Caring in Human Cultures, alongside graduate instruction in Culture and Health: Perspectives and the DNP Scholarly Practice Project series. She has developed nursing curricula and emphasizes experiential learning approaches.
Her research interests center on culturally competent care models, nursing pedagogy for diverse student populations, and improving healthcare access for marginalized communities.
