Camilo Perez Quintero

Camilo Perez Quintero serves as an Assistant Professor of Communication at Regis University, bringing expertise as a Colombian anthropologist and videographer specializing in communication for social change and south epistemologies to bridge academic theory with grassroots activism.

His research spans community media, storytelling for social justice, participatory action research, and art-based methodologies, extending to indigenous media, peacebuilding communication, Latino/Latinx cultural studies, health narratives, gender and sexual diversity, memory analysis, music counterculture, and intersections of food with identity. He emphasizes decolonial approaches through south epistemologies to challenge dominant narratives in marginalized communities.

Dr. Perez Quintero co-founded and directed the Communication and Social Change Co-Lab: JUI SHIKAZGUAXA at Universidad del Norte in Colombia, creating vital connections between academic research and grassroots social movements. He also established PASOLINI IN MEDELLIN, a non-profit using participatory storytelling to foster critical thinking and counter violence among Medellín's marginalized populations, demonstrating his commitment to applied community engagement.
