Camille Thomasson

Camille Thomasson is a Senior Lecturer in Film and Media Studies at Yale University, where she teaches courses including The Screenwriter’s Craft and Classical Hollywood Narrative. She holds an M.F.A. from the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts (1986) and a B.A. in History from Yale University (1982).

Her research focuses on storytelling techniques, film adaptation, and the psychological impact of cinema on audiences, particularly children's empathy towards screen characters. She has received multiple accolades including the Richard H. Brodhead Prize for Teaching Excellence (2020) and Mentor of the Year from Berkeley College (2018).

Professionally, Thomasson has written for major studios like Paramount, Warner Bros., and HBO, with her work earning awards such as the Student Academy Award and CINE Golden Eagle. She mentors adult writers through programs like the Screenwriters Workshop and Laboratorio de Giones.
