Camille D Hervilly is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Ecology, Environment and Geoscience at Umeå University, Sweden. Previously, she held a postdoctoral position at the Institute for Environmental Studies of Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic, and conducted research at INRAE Montpellier, France. Her current work is conducted within the Terrestrial Ecology research group at Umeå University, collaborating with Gesche Blume-Werry and Eva Krab from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU).
Her research focuses on:
- Soil macrofauna dynamics (earthworms, millipedes, woodlice)
- Organic matter decomposition mechanisms
- Carbon and nutrient cycling in soil ecosystems
- Earthworm invasion impacts in boreal forests and arctic tundra
- Soil recovery processes in post-mining sites
- Spatial heterogeneity in agroforestry systems
Dr. Hervilly investigates how soil fauna regulates microbial access to organic matter, influencing carbon mineralization and storage in historically earthworm-deprived ecosystems. Her experimental work employs pot and mesocosm systems to manipulate macrofaunal communities, with particular emphasis on climate change-driven earthworm invasions that could transform northern carbon sinks into emission sources.
Scientific Awards:
- No awards mentioned in source materials
No information is provided regarding student advising or research grants. Dr. Hervilly actively contributes to the Terrestrial Ecology group's research on ecosystem dynamics in northern environments, utilizing controlled experimental setups to isolate macrofaunal effects on decomposition processes across multiple ecosystem types.
