Camilla Mørk Røstvik is an Associate Professor in History at the University of Agder (UiA), affiliated with the Department of Religion, Philosophy and History. She holds a PhD from the University of Manchester (2017) and extensive postdoctoral experience including a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship (2017-2020). Røstvik is also an Honorary Lecturer at Aberdeen University’s School of Medicine and Art History, and Honorary Research Fellow at the University of St Andrews.
Her research focuses on cultural histories of menstruation, women’s and gender history, feminist art history, and witch archetypes. Key projects include leading the Menstruation Research Network UK (since 2018), organizing feminist reading groups at UiA, and directing major Wellcome Trust-funded studies. Notable publications include Cash Flow: The Businesses of Menstruation (2022) and her upcoming The Painters Are In (2024).
Røstvik’s work bridges academia and public engagement, exemplified by the Remembering Witches project addressing Agder’s lack of witch trials memorials. She frequently contributes to media platforms like BBC Radio, The Conversation, and Discard Studies. Awards include the Leverhulme Fellowship and board membership in The Society for Menstrual Cycle Research.
Teaching spans history, art history, and women’s health at all academic levels. She supervises topics relating to reproductive history, medical humanities, and Scandinavian memory culture.
