Camila Bustos is an Assistant Professor of Law at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, where she joined the faculty in 2023. Her work bridges environmental law, human rights, climate migration, and international law. She teaches courses in International Human Rights, Environmental Law, Climate Migration, and Torts.

Professor Bustos’ research focuses on climate litigation, corporate accountability, climate displacement, and the ethical responsibilities of legal professionals in the climate crisis. She is a leading voice in movement lawyering and climate justice advocacy. Her work explores the intersection of environmental crises and human rights, particularly in Colombia, Central America, and Puerto Rico.
Her recent publications examine climate remedies, fossil fuel representation, and nature’s rights in Colombia. Her scholarship is published in top journals such as the NYU Environmental Law Journal, Connecticut Law Review, and Yale Journal of Law and Feminism. She frequently presents on climate displacement and has provided expert testimony before the Canadian Senate and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.

Professor Bustos co-founded Law Students for Climate Accountability and serves on the board of Save the Sound. She has held prior positions as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Trinity College, a Clinical Supervisor with the University Network for Human Rights, a law clerk to Justice Steven D. Ecker of the Connecticut Supreme Court, and a consultant with the International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP).
She is actively involved in shaping climate-responsive legal education and advancing environmental justice through interdisciplinary and transnational research.
