Cami Rowe is a Senior Lecturer in Applied Theatre/Socially Engaged Theatre at Lancaster University's Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts (LICA), part of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS). She holds a PhD in International Relations and advanced degrees in Drama (BA, MA, MPhil). Her research bridges Theatre, Performance, and International Politics, focusing on war/militarisation, political resistance by marginalized groups, and creative resistance in digital populism contexts. She teaches LICA180 (Introduction to Theatre Studies) and supervises four PhD students. Her work explores protest performance, intercultural theatre, and youth/community theatre practices.
Education: BA, MA, MPhil in Drama; PhD in International Relations. Research interests include migration studies, national identities, and the intersection of performance with global political dynamics. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and contributes to research groups like the Cultures Institute for Social Futures.
Recent activities include keynote talks on populist aesthetics, invited lectures on political performance, and participation in conferences such as the International Studies Association Annual Convention. Her current monograph project examines creative resistance mechanisms within digital populism frameworks.
