Professor Michael McKinnie holds the title of Professor of Theatre at Queen Mary University of London's School of English and Drama. He joined the Drama Department in 2006 after roles at the University of Birmingham and Queen’s University Belfast. His academic background includes a BA in Drama from the University of Guelph, an MA in English from York University (Toronto), and a PhD in Theatre and Drama from Northwestern University. His research focuses on theatre economics, political economy of performance, and urban spatial dynamics, with notable works like *Theatre in Market Economies* (Cambridge UP, 2021) and *City Stages* (U Toronto Press, 2007).
His teaching spans undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including modules on theatre theory, capitalism in performance, and urban performance studies. Supervised doctoral research topics include performance and social housing, labour politics in workshops, and political economy performativity.
