Cameron Millar is a Research Assistant Professor at the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC), holding dual appointments in the College of Biomedical and Translational Sciences (Department of Pharmacology & Neuroscience) and the North Texas Eye Research Institute. His research focuses on aqueous humor dynamics, primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG), and the interplay between Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) and ocular conditions. He employs mouse models, viral vectors, and advanced imaging techniques like spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT).
- Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Applied Biology, Glasgow Caledonian University
- Bachelor of Science in Applied & Clinical Biochemistry, Glasgow Caledonian University
- PhD in Pharmacology, University of Glasgow
Research interests include intraocular pressure regulation, trabecular meshwork biology, and translational therapies for glaucoma. Millar has led or co-led 12 sponsored projects, including investigations into novel glaucoma therapies and the role of immunomodulation in gene delivery. His work frequently involves multi-disciplinary collaborations within NTERI.
Notable grants include studies on viscoelastic compounds (Alcon-funded), FMNL2/Rho-GTPase pathways (National Eye Institute), and glucocorticoid effects on ocular hypertension. While no formal advisees are listed, his lab engages in collaborative research training through institutional partnerships.
Millar’s lab contributes to UNTHSC’s broader translational research ecosystem, bridging basic science and clinical applications in ophthalmology.
