Cameron Logan

Associate Professor Cameron Logan is an urban and architectural historian at the University of Sydney's School of Architecture, Design and Planning. He directs the Master of Heritage Conservation program and is a member of the Architectural Theory and History Research Group and the Urbanism Research Group. His work explores civic culture, public architecture, and the political implications of heritage conservation practices.

His research interests span urban and architectural history, focusing on the intersection of civic culture, public architecture, and heritage conservation. He examines how preservation practices influence political, architectural, and urban landscapes, particularly in contexts involving race and real estate, as seen in his work on Washington D.C. and Sydney. His studies also encompass modernist architecture’s role in healthcare and education, such as in his co-authored book Architecture and the Modern Hospital. He investigates ethical dimensions of architectural design in historic settings and tensions between urban development and preservation.

He has received the Society of Architectural Historians (SAH) Publication Awards (2019) for scholarly contributions. His articles reflect a focus on urban renewal, campus design, and heritage policy, with recent work addressing public housing stigma and the evolution of modernist institutions.
