Dr. Cam Tsujita is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth Sciences at Western University, specializing in paleontology and sedimentology. He holds a Ph.D. from McMaster University (1995). His research focuses on taphonomic processes, fossil preservation, and paleoecology of Paleozoic/Mesozoic invertebrates, with additional interests in geoscience education and outreach.
His work spans disciplines including ammonoid biology, marine anoxia studies, and sedimentological analysis of mudrocks. He has contributed to understanding Late Ordovician anoxia in Laurentia, Devonian Arkona Formation storm dynamics, and Cretaceous ammonite morphology controversies. Tsujita is actively involved in public geoscience education through initiatives like the Richard W. Hutchinson Geoscience Collaborative Suite.
Notable contributions include studies on Cretaceous marine predation (e.g., limpet/mosasaur interactions), taphonomic analysis of lobsters in the Bearpaw Formation, and functional morphology of ammonoids. His research bridges paleontology, sedimentology, and geochemistry to reconstruct ancient environments and ecological interactions.
