Dr. Callum Hetherington is a Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Geosciences at Texas Tech University (TTU). He holds roles as Director of the College of Arts & Sciences Microscopy (CASM) and Associate Editor of The American Mineralogist. His research focuses on mineral textures, crustal processes, and strategic mineral resources, with fieldwork in Europe, North America, and southern Africa. He leads the NSF-funded International Research Experience for Students (IRES) program studying the Bushveld Complex in South Africa.

- Teaching: GEOL 3321 (Igneous/Metamorphic Petrology), GEOL 5304 (Electron Microscopy), and GCH 4308/5308 (Mineral Sciences Techniques)
Research interests include accessory mineral geochemistry, rare earth element mobility, and experimental studies of monazite and zircon dissolution-reprecipitation. He directs the South Plains STEM Scholars (SPSS) program, supporting rural STEM students.
