Janet Perez

Dr. Janet Perez (1937-2016) was the Paul Whitfield Horn Professor of Spanish at Texas Tech University's Department of Classical and Modern Languages and Literatures until her retirement in 2013. A Duke University PhD graduate (1961), she pioneered research on post-Civil War Spanish women writers and exile literature.

Her extensive scholarship includes 15+ books and 250+ articles. Honors include Corresponding Membership in the Spanish Royal Academy and the Distinguished Leadership Award from AATSP. She directed over 70 dissertations and co-founded the journal Monographic Review.
