Calla J. Cameron serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of History at Georgetown University, having recently completed her PhD in Latin American History in May 2025. Her doctoral research examined the socio-political impact of Peru's Internal Armed Conflict (1980-2000) and Truth and Reconciliation Commission on Quinua, a rural community in Ayacucho's Huamanga region.
Her academic credentials include:
- Doctor of Philosophy in Latin American History, Georgetown University
- Master of Arts, Georgetown University
- Bachelor of Arts, Claremont McKenna College
Dr. Cameron specializes in transitional justice mechanisms across Latin America, utilizing oral history methodologies to document community experiences during/post-conflict periods. Her fieldwork in Quinua (May-December 2022) centered rural perspectives often marginalized in official narratives, while her work with Adopta Una Familia in Guayaquil, Ecuador demonstrates applied engagement with grassroots transitional justice initiatives.
She is recognized for receiving the Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Award in 2022, which enabled critical primary-source collection in Peru.
As a new faculty member, she has not yet advised graduate students but actively contributes to historical discourse through her community-centered research approach. Her current work expands to comparative transitional justice frameworks across Latin American contexts.
