Cajetan Iheka is a Professor of English at Yale University, serving as Director of the Whitney Humanities Center, Chair of the Council on African Studies, and Head of the Africa Initiative. His research focuses on African literature, ecocriticism, ecomedia, and postcolonial studies. He has authored influential works such as Naturalizing Africa (2018) and African Ecomedia (2021), which have received multiple prestigious awards.
His edited volumes include Teaching Postcolonial Environmental Literature and Media (2022) and African Migration Narratives (2018). Currently, he is Editor-in-Chief of African Studies Review and explores comparative studies of African and Caribbean literatures. His work bridges environmental humanities, media studies, and postcolonial theory, positioning Africa at the center of global discourses.
Key awards include the 2019 Ecocriticism Book Award, 2020 African Literature Association First Book Prize, and 2022 African Studies Association Best Book Prize. His articles address intersections of ecology, media, migration, and decolonial theory.
