Caitlin Powers serves as an Assistant Professor in the Physician Assistant Program at Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences, Mary Baldwin University, while maintaining active clinical practice in the Augusta Health Emergency Department for six years. Her dual expertise bridges emergency medicine and academic instruction within the physician assistant curriculum.
Her educational foundation includes a Master of Molecular Biology from East Carolina University—where her research examined microRNA expression patterns and molecular targets—and a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from James Madison University. This background informs her interdisciplinary approach to medical education.
Professor Powers specializes in Emergency Medicine, Infectious Disease, and Molecular Biology, with growing emphasis on wellness integration through the Healer's Art program. Her research interests stem from both clinical practice and foundational molecular work, creating unique synergies between laboratory science and emergency care applications.
As wellness coordinator for the program, she leads interprofessional course development and co-instructs Clinical Medicine and Laboratory and Diagnostic Studies. Her administrative role focuses on embedding resilience training into the curriculum, addressing critical gaps in healthcare professional development.
