Caitlin Maling is a Senior Lecturer at Curtin University's School of Media, Creative Arts and Social Inquiry within the Faculty of Humanities. Her research focuses on poetry, creative nonfiction, environmental writing, and Western Australian literature. She holds a prominent role in the Office of the Provost. Maling’s creative work explores ecological themes, contemporary American poetry, and regional Australian narratives. Her 2025 article Lucretia on the Island re-examines Randolph Stow’s poetic legacy, while her 2023 anthology Westerly: Caretaking champions environmental stewardship. Her 2021 memorial lecture on epistolary poetry highlights her critical engagement with literary forms. Maling’s creative output includes Border Crossing (2017) and Conversations I've Never Had (2015), both published by Fremantle Press. She is affiliated with the Westerly literary journal and frequently publishes in Cordite Poetry Review, Meanjin, and Island Magazine.
